Jiffy Lube® International, Inc. has the largest system of franchised and company-operated service centers in the rapidly expanding fast lube industry. A switch from the do-it-yourself to the installed motor oil market is accelerating. We project that about half the growth in the installed market will go to the fast lube category; the rest will go to garages, car dealers and the few remaining gas stations.
Over the next 10 years, the fast lube industry will need to expand to service more than 120 million vehicles a year, compared to about 80 million a year serviced in 1995. Today, Jiffy Lube® centers service over 27 million customers each year; 88% of Jiffy Lube® service centers are franchised, the rest are company owned and operated.

Jiffy Lube®: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
With more than 2,200 service centers in North America, Jiffy Lube® is the largest system of franchised and company-operated service centers in the fast lube industry, servicing approximately 27.5 million customers each year. Headquartered in Houston, Jiffy Lube® International is a wholly owned, indirect subsidiary of Shell Oil Company.
Jiffy Lube® pioneered the fast oil change industry in 1979 by establishing the first drive-through service bay, providing customers with fast and professional maintenance service for their vehicles. Jiffy Lube® was created to fill a gap left by the departure of full service gas stations and the emergence of the self-serve model. It also accommodated the shift from the do-it-yourself oil change market (DIY) to the installed motor oil market, or do-it-for-me (DIFM). Over the next two decades, more than half the growth in the installed market went to fast lubes.
In addition to its pioneering business model, Jiffy Lube® is also responsible for some of the major advances in automotive preventive maintenance service.
Going forward, the Jiffy Lube® brand will continue to grow domestically and internationally to help consumers everywhere quickly, conveniently and confidently maintain their vehicles. In 2004, Jiffy Lube® International announced its expansion into China through a partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industry Sales Corporation and currently have stores serving customers in Shanghai. Additional overseas expansions are also in development.
Training & Support
Site Selection Assistance
Our development managers can provide site selection assistance by using information drawn from our most successful centers. We subscribe to a sophisticated computerized mapping system that can show demographic, geographic, financial and/or marketing information about any neighborhood in the country on a single map.
Basic building plans and specifications are provided. Modifications are usually required only to meet unique local and state requirements or to adapt the plans to your site. Our service centers offer maximum operating efficiency and aesthetic appeal. In most cases, stores are built with 2 or 3 service bays, enabling technicians to work on several vehicles at once.
Effective Advertising
Advertising materials that can be adapted to local market needs will be provided to you. In many areas, there are cooperative advertising associations in which you can meet with other franchisees and Jiffy Lube® representatives to discuss and implement marketing strategies.
What We Deliver
Due to zoning and permitting requirements, the time from signing a franchise agreement to opening a store varies from market to market.
- Training - prior to opening your service center, you'll work at a Jiffy Lube® center and meet other franchisees in the Jiffy Lube® organization. You and your service center manager will also attend a classroom-training course to familiarize you with various aspects of the Jiffy Lube® system. Before your center opens, our field staff will help you train your initial personnel. You'll also receive detailed policies and procedures manuals and other written operating, marketing and training materials.
- Marketing - Jiffy Lube® works with you to keep your business growing by implementing marketing programs such as fleet maintenance and database marketing. We also conduct research and develop procedures for offering additional services to our customers
- Technology - you'll receive a point-of-sale computer system that enables our franchisees to record customer and marketing data, to identify automobile service requirements and identify strengths and weaknesses in their operations

The initial investment for a Jiffy Lube® service center at a leased site is estimated to be between $214,000 and $273,000.
Qualifications
Our most successful franchisees are those who give their businesses their personal attention. Consequently, Jiffy Lube® is looking for franchisees that will be personally involved in the operation of their service centers, not those who simply have money to invest.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for a Jiffy Lube® franchise, you should have a net worth of at least $450,000, not including your personal residence. You should have liquid assets of at least $150,000. We are looking for individuals who are committed and conscientious. Our franchisees must have the ability - and the desire - to learn and follow a franchise format. Our business requires individuals with strong interpersonal skills who can manage and motivate their employees and expand their customer base.
