Denny’s® is the most recognized name in family dining
providing good food and service for more than 50 years. With
approximately 1,500 restaurants across America and systemwide sales of
more than $2 billion, Denny’s is the largest full-service family
restaurant chain in the United States.
Denny’s restaurants offer a casual dining atmosphere and moderately priced meals served 24 hours a day at most locations. Denny’s is best known for its breakfasts served around the clock, including the popular Meat Lover’s Breakfast and Original Grand Slam®. The lunch and dinner menu are increasing in popularity with a variety of cravable burgers, sandwiches, salads and other entrees. Denny’s remains dominant for the late-night crowd with an emphasis on appetizers and desserts.
Specialty menus for health conscious guests feature low-fat offerings. The chain also offers customers age 55 and over selections at special prices and children 10 and under a specially priced menu. In addition, Denny’s offers free refills on coffee, tea, soft drinks and lemonade.
At year end 2006, there were 1,545 Denny’s restaurants: 521 were owned and operated by the company and 1,024 were operated under franchise and licensing agreements. The restaurants are located in the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Guam, Mexico, New Zealand and Puerto Rico. The majority of restaurants are located in California, Florida and Texas.
Denny’s ended 2006 with systemwide sales of $2.4 billion and $1.69 million average unit sales for company-operated restaurants. There are 27,000 employees at Denny’s company restaurants.

Training & Support
Denny’s commitment to franchise support includes:
- Assist in obtaining site approval.
- Provide standard prototype plans and specifications, including interior layout and decor, equipment specifications and sign design that your local architect must adapt to meet local code requirements.
- Provide management training.
- Assist with new restaurant opening.
- Provide one copy of our Brand Standards Manual/HACCP for each Denny’s restaurant you operate for the length of the franchise agreement.
- Provide advertising support.
- Provide ongoing field support.
Are You a Good Fit for Denny's?
If a
franchisee will not be the operator then he must have an operator with
at least four years experience as a restaurant manager or owner. The
operator must have at least 10% equity interest in the franchise. If
franchisee is a corporation or owns multiple Denny's restaurants, you
must designate a general supervisor for each geographical area.
