Products & Services

Three teenagers meet at St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City, N.J.
Throughout their high school years, they become close friends and begin
talking about the possibility of starting a business. Like many great
entrepreneurs, they have no idea what business to be in, but only that
they want to go into business together.
Armed with a collective business itch, Tony Conza, Peter DeCarlo and Angelo Baldassare start buying women's hosiery wholesale and selling it to family members and friends. The consummate salesman in the group branches out, selling pots and pans door-to-door. The quiet thinker tries his hand at over-the-counter trading on Wall Street. And the third entrepreneur is successful running church hall dances.
A few years pass and one of the young men asks the others a fateful question; "Hey, have you guys heard about those sandwiches they call submarines?" The next morning, the trio leave their homes in north Jersey and head down the Garden State Parkway to Point Pleasant, to a little shop serving long, strangely-shaped sandwiches. It's lunchtime and the place is packed. By the time they get to the fresh meat slicer, they had begun to understand all the fuss. A young man behind the slicer is taking orders, cutting fresh Italian bread down the middle and placing the fresh meats on the bread before sliding the sandwich down to the dressing station. There, another adds shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, diced onions, oil, vinegar and spices. The three men stare, mouths watering, waiting to chomp these so-called submarines.
At that moment, the three young men with an entrepreneurial dream realize they are on to something very special.
On the way home, they do what entrepreneurs do; they dream and their words fill the car. They agree that people in north Jersey would love this "salad on a sandwich" concept and with a simple menu, they could open a chain of restaurants!

Training & Support

Our current training program consists of three segments. The first segment is a minimum of 80 hours of hands-on experience in an operating BLIMPIE restaurant. This practical experience is followed by 80 hours of formal classroom training at BLIMPIE University in Atlanta, Georgia. BLIMPIE University covers all facets of operating a business, such as marketing, accounting, hiring policies and procedures, cash management, customer relations, and other critical business matters. Once this class has been successfully completed, the franchisee must spend an additional minimum 40 hours in a BLIMPIE restaurant to gain more hands-on experience. BLIMPIE will then assist you at the opening of your restaurant.
Support:
- An Area Representative may be available for assistance and, if available, will be an integral part of our support in assisting you in your business development
- A BLIMPIE representative will visit regularly and will remain available to answer business questions.
- A series of manuals are also provided in the BLIMPIE University that will assist in the operation of your BLIMPIE restaurant.
- A monthly newsletter is provided to you to keep you informed of new management tips, research and development, and important events occurring throughout the BLIMPIE franchise system.
- The National Franchisee Advisory Council is also an important link with BLIMPIE. Franchisees elected and appointed to this council work with Blimpie International, Inc. to help all BLIMPIE franchisees keep abreast of new developments in the marketplace. Regional activities are an important part of our continuing education program. This program, helps keep franchisees informed on a variety of subjects and provides an opportunity to interact with other franchisees and Blimpie’s management team.
