With the popularity of coffee bars growing throughout the nation, an unfilled niche in Oxford, Mississippi (the home of “Ole Miss”), presented Thomas Blanche with the opportunity to offer residents and students alike, the finest Arabica coffee, teas, and freshly baked pastries. To satisfy this need and his own entrepreneurial spirit, Blanche left the corporate world and opened his first store, Uptown coffee in Oxford in July 2002. It was very successful and enabled him to open High Point Coffee in Memphis, Tennessee in May 2003. In August 2003 a roasting and distribution facility was created to formulate its own unique coffees, support growth, and react more quickly to customer and employee comments and demand. Following the roasting and distribution plant, a store in Tupelo, Mississippi was opened in December 2004 and soon after, a second Memphis location was opened in April 2006. High Point Coffee is built on serving quality drinks with friendly, interactive, and knowledgeable staff.

Training & Support

Those of you who have read Thomas Blanches’ resume know that when he started High Point Coffee in 2002, Thomas had an extensive background in food service with companies such as Wendy’s, Cracker Barrel and The Marriot Corporation. Thomas knew what he was doing and you will too because, you are going to learn the business directly from Thomas Blanche. That’s right; you are going to learn from “The Man”. You are going to learn from “The Man” with not only experience with major food service companies but “The Man” who was actively involved in the beginning of High Point’s four (4) company stores. Thomas was there from day one and doing whatever had to be done. He is great with overflowing rest rooms and you should see him wield a mop and pail. Yes, that’s all part of owning and growing your own business. “The buck” stops with Thomas Blanche and in your new High Point Store, that same “buck” will stop with you.

The fact that, even with his years of experience in food service, Thomas knows that opening his four (4) High Point stores was a learning experience. “There are just some things that you don’t know how to tackle until you experience them,” exclaims Thomas as he cleans the pipes in his shiny new Shearer Ambient fully automatic espresso machine.” Yes, having four (4) company stores has taught Thomas and the staff at High Point just what a PHD in Specialty coffeology is all about. And Thomas and that same staff are going to train you. The High Point experience of having four (4) of their own stores is invaluable. It is hard to believe that there are companies out there selling licenses and franchises that do not own one (1) company store. If some of the companies that you are dealing with don’t own company stores it is a giant red flag.

I mean, would you take driving lessons from some woman you met on the bus? Would you take flying lessons from a guy who has 1,000,000 miles with Delta; all in the coach cabin? How about taking an aerobics class taught by a chubby guy who just read the book? If you are going to pay money for a franchise or license, spend that money with someone who has been there, is still there and will always be there. There is no experience like doing the job. She also saw, for the first time, coffee being blended and roasted at our Mississippi Roastery.

Jennifer was impressed by the warm stone fireplace, soft music and the sounds of preparing coffee drinks. The soft murmur of people conversing over the humming keyboards of our wi-fi equipped stores, just add to the overall excellence that lure Jennifer, you and your future customers to your new High Point shop.

Are You a Good Fit for High Point Coffee?

The High point Coffee Licensing Program puts you into your own full size Coffee Bar. Some will even have a drive-thru window in addition to the “sit down space.” You will be able to effectively compete with the giants of the business. It is a fact that in certain areas of the country, High Point Coffee has been voted #1 coffee bar by consumers in these respective areas. However, this full line coffee bar can not be done on the cheap. You will be spending from $275,000 to $325,000 total. Your High Point Coffee Bar will be “first class” all the way, including “build-out”, fixtures, millwork, equipment, product, training and all the other elements that make us #1 in customer satisfaction. We don’t sacrifice quality for price. The following are the requirements to own a High Point License.

At least $70,000 of your own unencumbered funds. This must be available cash that does not deplete all of your other assets.
A net worth (your assets minus your liabilities) of at least $300,000. We are also seeking Area Developers with a net worth of $500,000 or more.
Good credit (650 score or above) with no bankruptcies in the last 7 years.
The intestinal fortitude to sign a 10 year note for approximately $225,000. Of course, if your financial position is such that you do not have to use our financing sources, this is a plus factor.
The further intestinal fortitude to spend a total (your funds and borrowed) of between $275,000 and $325,000.
